The Hackney Archives : Connecting communities

“We had a big hole where our shelter was, the bomb had dropped between our garden and the next doors, so we were lucky, it was fate I think don’t you?”

These were the words of Vera Windley who had many fascinating stories about what Hackney was like before the war. I shot and edited this film for Hackney Archives and their ‘Re:present programme’. The video was shot during four workshop sessions with local Hackney people, with the aim of understanding how the archives could be improved for different types of people in the community.
